Graduated as a Civil Engineer from VJTI Engineering College, Mumbai in 1966, Mr. Counto gained valuable experience at the beginning of his career as a young man geared up to face the world with an engineering degree. He worked in private organizations for 4 years prior to joining PWD, Goa, and instinctively knew that having a vision with a mission coupled with talent, willpower, and determination was his way forward to succeed. Mr. Counto’s rigorous work ethics and integrity combined with a never say die attitude spurred him towards building a thriving business house in Goa over the last 50 years.

From a tiny engineering unit set up in 1971, Alcon now boasts 5 major business verticals - Construction, Hospitality, Manufacturing and R&D, Automobiles, and Infrastructure/Logistics. Today evidently, his humble unit has grown and expanded into one of Goa’s largest business conglomerates and is clearly a well-known figure in the business circle in the State of Goa. Undeniably, as Chairman and Managing Director of Alcon Enterprises having an employee strength of about 2000 staff working in different units all over Goa, Alcon is the realization of the indefatigable efforts and foresight of one man who made a mark for himself.
